what's a narrative tournament, you might ask?

It's a more fun and casual take on the usual format.

Step into an immersive Warhammer 40k experience like no other!
‍
There will be a governing narrative, that will take you through different dynamics and mechanisms throughout your games.
‍
There will be random events happening, changes in pace, and unexpected twists.
It might not benefit you. It might have dire consequences. But if the gods favor you, it might just be what you need to be remembered in legends.

The in-game rules are the same as a traditional 40k game. You need a 2000 points army respecting all official detachment and army rules. A painted army is not mandatory.
You do not need to submit your list for approbation.
‍
Additional mechanics, events and objectives might be added on top of that, but the base game will not be changed.

narrative synopsis

Once a year, the blackshield tournaments gather all the best warriors of fenris to compete under the watchful eyes of the elders, to win the honors of carrying the revered black shard, an ancient relic pivotal in the defense of the village.

All warriors start on equal footings, with no allies and countless opponents in their way to glory.

Throughout their journey, unexpected alliances will be forged, others will be abandoned. Weapons will break and shatter at your feet. Boons will be bestowed, curses will be uttered.

Only the most legendary champion will be deemed worthy of carrying the black shard.
