about this workshop

True Metallic Metal 101
Painting Realistic Metallics by Brush - In this course, we’ll dive deep into TMM techniques to create stunning, high-impact armor and trim using acrylics and enamel paints—all by hand, without an airbrush. You’ll learn how to: • Create smooth transitions and reflective surfaces using metallic acrylics • Apply controlled shading and highlights to define shapes and volumes • Use enamel washes to add depth, grime, and surface variation • Achieve a polished, battle-worn, or grimdark finish depending on your style We’ll focus on painting metallic armor and trim—that can be used on everything from from Chaos warbands to Space Marines and fantasy knights. By the end, you’ll understand how to control shine, contrast, and color temperature to make your metallics truly come alive.

Hi, I’m Tom—known as @Tsevetar on Instagram—and I’m a miniature painter with a passion for dramatic lighting, narrative mood, and high-impact visuals. Over the past five years, I’ve dedicated myself to the craft of miniature painting, developing a distinctive style that emphasizes high contrast and object source lighting (OSL) to create eye-catching, atmospheric models that feel alive on the tabletop.

My journey began as a painter first, drawn to the storytelling potential of light and shadow. In 2025, I finally stepped into the world of tabletop gaming—and it’s been a blast ever since. Now, I combine the joy of painting with the thrill of gameplay, and I'm more inspired than ever to share what I’ve learned with other hobbyists.
